Whenever I have my Barnes and Noble Nook out, someone always asks me how I like it. It doesn’t matter where I am, there’s always someone who asks. Most of the time, this happens while I’m on the train going to school. People want to know what the Nook is like, especially those who are looking into buying an e-reader themselves. To these people, I say, “I love my Nook. It stores hundreds of books, you can buy them right from the Nook itself, and you can even browse the web and listen to music on it.” Despite what I say, some people still go for the Amazon Kindle. The debate between the two devices has been going on for a while now, and just the other day I got into an argument about it with one of my classmates.
While waiting for class to start, I had my Nook out and was reading from it. My classmate took one look at it and then made a face at me. I asked him what was wrong, and he simply stated, “The Kindle’s better.” So I made a face right back at him, and then we argued over which one was better until the class started. He kept going on and on about how the keyboard on the Kindle made browsing the web and searching for new books easier. Well, the Nook just has a touch screen, which functions as a menu, and when needed, a keyboard. To me, this makes more sense because it takes up less space and is multifunctional. But he persisted in his opinion of the Kindle being better.
Many websites now exist comparing and contrasting the Nook and Kindle for those who are debating on which to buy. They give the sizes of the two devices, what the functions of each are, and the prices. While the Kindle is less expensive than the Nook, the Nook has many more features that come in handy quite often. For example, my best friend and I both have Nooks. If she buys a book that she really likes and wants me to read it, I don’t actually have to buy it to read it. She can lend it to me (on my Nook) for two weeks so that I can read it too. And it costs absolutely no money to lend a book. It’s like having two libraries for the price of one, in a way. We use this feature all of the time, because we read the same kinds of books. It’s nice to have something to talk about besides school.
So my advice to you is, if you’re looking for an e-reader and don’t know which one to buy, go online and check them both out. And if you want to talk to a salesperson about it, go to your nearest Barnes and Noble store today.
